Etiqo does not collect anything about you. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no internet connection. What Etiqo knows about your learning stays on your iPhone, and deleting the app deletes all of it.
That is the whole policy in one paragraph. The rest of this page explains it properly, because you deserve the detail and not just the reassurance.
Etiqo is made by Brad Brunton, an individual developer based in Trail, British Columbia, Canada.
If you have a question about privacy, write to sakaclothing.customerservice@gmail.com. A real person reads it.
Etiqo keeps track of your learning so the app can pick up where you left off. That means it stores:
All of that lives in a single file inside Etiqo's own private storage area on your device. iOS keeps that area sandboxed, which means other apps cannot read it and neither can we.
We want to be specific here, because "we respect your privacy" is easy to say and hard to check.
Only to make the app work. Your progress file is what lets Etiqo show your streak, remember which rules you have already read, schedule quiz reviews at the right time, and award a stamp when you have earned it. That is its entire purpose.
We do not profile you, score you, or use your progress to make decisions about you.
Nobody. There is no third party in this app, and there is no version of Etiqo where your progress leaves your device on its way to us.
We do not keep it at all, because we never have it. The copy on your iPhone stays there until you remove it.
You have two ways, and both are immediate:
You do not need to ask us, and you do not need to wait for us.
One honest detail worth knowing. If you have iPhone backups turned on, iOS may include Etiqo's progress file in your device backup, in the same way it does for most apps. That backup is yours, it is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy, and we have no access to it or visibility into it. If you would rather it were not backed up, you can turn off backups for Etiqo in your iOS settings.
Etiqo is written for adult and teenage travellers. It is rated 13+, it is not listed in the App Store Kids Category, and it is not directed to children under 13.
Etiqo collects no personal information from anyone, of any age. There is no account, no email address, no identifier and no transmission of anything off the device. That means there is nothing to collect from a child, nothing to disclose, and no circumstance in which we would need verifiable parental consent under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act or its equivalents elsewhere.
If you are a parent or guardian and you have a question about this, write to sakaclothing.customerservice@gmail.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to see, correct, export or delete the personal data a company holds about you. Laws like the EU and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and similar state and national laws set those rights out.
Those rights apply to data a company actually holds. We hold none. So:
What you can do is control the copy on your own device, using the delete option above. That gives you the practical outcome those laws are aiming at, immediately and without asking anyone's permission.
If you believe we have got something wrong here, contact us at sakaclothing.customerservice@gmail.com. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Etiqo's cultural and legal information is educational. It is not legal, safety, immigration or travel advice, it may be out of date, and it may not hold in every region of a country. Please read the Terms of Use for the full picture, and always check official sources before you rely on anything for a real trip.
If Etiqo ever changes what it stores or starts doing something new, we will update this page and change the date at the top before that version ships. Since the policy travels inside the app, you can always read the version that matches the app you are running.
